1. Preheat - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). 2. Brown the butter: In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Allow it to cook, stirring occasionally, until it turns a golden brown color and gives off a nutty aroma. Be careful not to burn the butter. Once browned, remove from heat and transfer to a mixing bowl. Allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. 3. Add the brown sugar: Whisk the brown sugar into the browned butter until fully incorporated. This may take 1-2 minutes. 4. Mash the bananas: In a separate bowl, mash the overripe bananas until smooth. Add the mashed bananas to the butter-sugar mixture and whisk until well combined. 5. Add the remaining wet ingredients: Whisk in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract into the banana mixture until smooth. 6. Combine the dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined. 7. Fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture: Pour the flour mixture into the banana batter. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough muffins. 8. Scoop into the muffin pan: Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, divide the batter evenly into the lined or greased muffin pan, filling each cup about 3/4 full. 9. Prepare the Nutella filling: Fill a piping bag or a Ziploc bag with Nutella. Pipe about 1 tablespoon of Nutella into the center of each muffin cup. Cover the Nutella with batter, filling each cup about 3/4 full. 10. Bake: Bake the muffins in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 11. Cooling time: Once the muffins are done baking, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy these delicious banana muffins warm or at room temperature. They are best enjoyed fresh!
